My fondness for photography began ...
long ago, when I was in school. I would flick through magazines and be in awe of the photos I saw. The look of these fashion and editorial shoots— and how different they were from traditional portraiture—made me think more creatively, especially when it came to editing and set design.
I got my first DSLR camera when I was in school, just before heading to college. I decided to teach myself how to shoot manually, and it really helped me to understand my camera.
This knowledge allowed me to get a head start in college and later go to Ravensbourne University on my portfolio alone.
Going to university was great for me. It allowed me to push my boundaries and gain the confidence to arrange and direct my own shoots.
Growing up, I was too shy to approach people and ask if I could take their photograph. Instead, I would take self-portraits! This was a great way to teach myself how to shoot, and I gained a better understanding of angles, editing styles, and so on!
If you’re camera shy, I can relate!
I’m very empathetic to those who feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, as I know it can feel a little awkward and embarrassing. But do not fear! I’ll do all I can to make you forget about those nerves and have fun on the shoot.
